Athena (my lab) suffered from bad gas, loose stools, and would routinely vomit. Each food I tried she never really seemed to care for and may not touch it all day until she got really hungry. The day I switched to this there was almost an immediate improvement. She eats every bit as soon as I feed her, no more gas, no more loose stools, and no more vomit. This food has made her life and my life much more happy.I wanted to wait a little while before writing this review to see if it was really going to help or not.My French Bulldog Maelee had been suffering from food allergies for the past couple years. We had went to the vet numerous times and she had to be given antibiotics and ear drops that she had to take on a weekly basis for maintenance to keep ear infections from returning. I did some research on my own, to figure out that recurring ear infections are often a sign of food allergies or intolerance. I switched her food a couple times, trying to steer away from Chicken and just change the protein and I didn't see a change until I switched to this food. Since this wasn't a typical limited ingredient diet, rather a specialty diet I thought it was worth a shot it being a little bit cheaper than some of the other options but quiet a bit more expensive than the Purina Beneful or Purina One SmartBlend.I had initially started out with Beneful then changed to Purina one Smartblend with chicken then switching to lamb and it was with those dog foods she was having the allergic reactions to.She would shake her head, scratch her ears, bite her feet, and rub against the furniture all the time like she was so miserable. She would scratch scabs in her ears and it absolutely broke my heart, I can’t take that!! I knew I had to do something and not let her suffer, she is my baby. The vet didn't mention allergies after the few times we kept taking her back for ear infections, but I'm a responsible pet owner and did the research myself to figure out the cause. (No offense to our vet he’s a wonderful doctor) If your dog is suffering from allergies this food is a really good choice and worth a try. While it may be a little pricey it is well worth the reward in your dog will be a lot happier and healthier.Since switching to this food, she is no longer itching, biting her feet and we have weaned off of the maintenance ear drops from the vet even. I couldn't be happier~! The quality of life when a dog has allergies has to be absolutely miserable. I was determined to keep switching, paying any amount of money to get my dog back to normal. We also tried the Zippy Paws Aller-Immune chews right around the same time we switched to this dog food, and I'm still giving her those as well. Some of the other reviewers said there were bugs in this dog food. There were no bugs in our bag of dog food and Salmon is the first ingredient. Reading the list of ingredients is a lot better compared to some of the other dog food brands in this category.I couldn't recommend this dog food enough, and I'll continue to dish the money out each month to give it to my dog if that means she doesn't have to suffer from itchy skin and ear infections. If your on the fence about buying this because of all the negative reviews regarding bugs, I inspected my bag thoroughly and there were NO BUGS! Also Purina has very good quality control and I am loyal to this brand.**UPDATE** 09/27/2022My Frenchie has had to go back to the maintenance ear drops from the vet. It’s luckily just a call in prescription no longer requiring an exam every time but she does have to take them again. I don’t think it’s anything to do with her diet anymore rather environmental allergies on top of the protein sensitivity. This food is still working great for her. When the ear infection returned we decided to switch to Hills prescription diet d/d salmon formula, buying it from our local vet and was a lot more expensive than this food. We kept her on that for months but no change in her ears so we switched back to this. I’m still happy with this food and know it’s made her allergies a lot better. There’s just unfortunately not much you can do for environmental allergies besides allergy medicine to help from the vet. We limit her treats and try to stick with single ingredient freeze dried salmon. She’s my life and I would do anything for her. Hope this helps other dogs with food sensitivities feel better too!!If you find my review helpful please click the helpful button below, as I wrote this in hopes it would help at least one person!I have an American Staffordshire Terrier named Ziggy who is the sweetest dog ever. It pained me to see his skin with bumps and raw areas where he’d scratched himself to bleeding. We were feeding him a decent quality food and tried different things to alleviate his issues. Nothing worked and daily Apoquel was not a solution I wanted to settle for. My step-daughter is a veterinarian and she suggested we try this food from Purina and what a game changer!! He loves it’s, it smells way better than most of the others, and his skin cleared up within a week! He’s so much more comfortable now. Stopped the constant paw licking, too. Now I’m having it auto- shipped so he’ll always have this as his main diet. 5 stars and 5 paws up!!My dog was getting skin rashes and then someone recommended this to me, their dog had the same issues. Her skin and coat are just so soft and no more rashes and this is after the first bag. It took a few weeks for her to like it, yes I slowly mixed it in with the old stuff, but she loves it now and the size is small which is perfect for my 14lb Jack Russell Terrier. My GSP loves it at first but by the end of the bag he only likes it when I combine it with something else but basically that happens with every dry food so I have to change it from time to time. Our little dog has had issues with his skin for the last 4 years. We have tried a great amount of different brands & forms of food for him. So far this food, Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach has worked good. He still has a slight itch, but it's not as bad as it was. Will continue to use this brand but may switch to canned. Very pleased so far!So happy I found this exact mixture and product. It has been the only food to correct my Boxer's digestive health. No more throwing up bile, no more soft poop or diarrhea! Coat is back to being soft and shiny.I'm not happy it's so EXPENSIVE!Our chocolate lab has a very sensitive stomach. She was throwing up her food pretty regularly (pretty much anything with chicken as the main ingredient). We switched to this and she loves it. She has no more stomach issues which is nice because our carpet cleaner was getting quite a workout. My dog isn’t really a fan of dry food, so he doesn’t really get excited to eat, and these were no exception. However, he does eventually eat and after a week, I’ve noticed some improvements with his skin issues, as a result of food sensitivity.Over the year, my dog has began to have itchiness on his paws when eating foods with chicken, and as a result, he’d lick his paws and they’ve eventually redden. After feeding him the Pro Plan, I’ve noticed that he stopped licking his paws as frequently, and they have started to return back to normal. Additionally, his coat feels much softer, smoother, and shinier than when he was on affordable Purina-brand alternatives. As a result, I think that this food line is good for him, and may be good for your dog. A little disclaimer though — I’ve heard that some dogs feel sick and puke after eating Pro Plan, so you should probably monitor your dog after feeding them to stay safe.My dog absolutely loves this. He's a very picky eater who is allergic to chicken so finding the right food for him that won't cause digestive troubles is always tricky. Purina is a trusted brand so we are happy to find something that works for him. When he was a puppy he was on Pro Plan for Large Breed Puppies but after developing a chicken allergy, we had to switch. We found he loves salmon and this is a great option. It took us a year and a few brands..we finally found a food my dog likes! She knows not to eat stuff that makes her sick. So she will go all day without eating. So I read the reviews and this food was supposed to be great. And it is!!! Even my cats wanted some.It is a salmon flavored food. The kibbles are smaller, so it can be enjoyed by a small dog as well.It has a very pleasant aroma and is visually appealing. My pug with digestive issues is currently on this diet and she seems to enjoy it.It comes in a bag big enough to last a month at 2 cups a day feedings. It is a quality food that my dog (and one that visited) seem to enjoy. This is one of the most nutritionally sound, nutritionally researched and trial tested (something I researched on my own as did her specialist), and tasty (according to my dog) foods on the market.
