My senior Mini Schnauzer suffered for years, scratching himself, biting himself and I would sweep the floors and find his flaky skin on the ground.One vet gave him steroids, it worked but he was huge, 25 pounds at one point! Another vet recommended a special shampoo - it helped but the moment I ran out of it, the issue was back. Another vet gave him a shot - no change.I purchased a sample of this food at Petco and since he liked it, I bought the bigger bag on Amazon in June. I recently realized that he stopped itching himself all the time. And he SLEEPS during the night instead of moving around scratching himself.Very satisfied.Rec'd the food on Thursday, same day as my new puppy. Very tiny puppy less than 2 lbs. So the super small size of the food is perfect. Am on auto delivery.NOTE: this is mostly the same text as the review I wrote for the Adult Halo Spot's Stew formula (see below). Just wanted to add a note that we switched our dog, Ace, to this after he started life on a cheaper commercial product (Purina "puppy chow"). His digestion on this is far more consistent, he loves the food, and after having researched and learned the differences between dog foods and ingredients, I'm really glad we've got Ace eating Halo Spot's Stew.Note: from review of Adult Halo Spot's Stew:After much research, I selected Halo Spot's Stew for our dog Ace, and we're all quite pleased - Ace most important of all! He's about 14 months old as I write this -- a 40lb mix of Black Lab and Jack Russell -- in effect, a half-sized Lab with a tendency to bounce.Probably one of the most respected dry dog foods on the market. Ace's coat is glossy, eyes are clear, digestion seems pretty much perfect - and consistent, and he loves the food. All in all, we're very pleased with Halo Spot's stew. BTW: we had started him on this with the puppy formula when he was a few months old, and switched to the adult formula once it was clear he had reached maximum growth at about 13 months. We switch flavors on each order to provide a bit of variety, but that's probably more fo us than Ace, as he doesn't seem to get bored with the food. The puppy food is small bite sized pieces my dog loves. Love that this is sustainable and made without factory farming! Compared to the ingredients in my last food this one is so much better quality! A must buy if you’re looking for a new foodI discovered Halo a few years ago for my dogs because I was searching for a food that has only good ingredients. Almost all other food has "meat meal" and all cheap dog food has corn meal. I want my dogs to have the best food without any diseased animals or filler added to it. Halo is by far the best food I've found in my search. I just adopted a puppy about two weeks ago and I immediately began the switch from the food she was eating, Science Diet, to Halo. She loves it! The nuggets are small and easy for her to eat. It's about the same size as the small breed Halo food. Since I began switching her to Halo, I've noticed she's not acting as starving when it is time for her to eat unlike the way she was acting when only eating Science Diet. She has also been pooping less which makes me happy because that means she is properly digesting her food.My puppies started to vomit withEukanuba dogwoodI switched to Halo they love it!I have a 5 month old spaniel bichon mix. I started her on halo when she was about 3 months. Around the time I started her on halo, she started developing rashes on her belly that looked like dermatitis. I took her to the vet and they provided an anti fungal wash. Over the next few weeks my girl started getting redness in her ears, and was itching more than usual. I feel stupid that I didn’t correlate it to her diet. She loves playing in the grass so I figured it was bugs. After she got spayed and had her cone on, her itching became so severe that she started scratching her face to the point where it bleeds. I thought halo was a good option because of the ingredients, but now I think otherwise. Besides my pup being allergic, I’ve also had other issues. I had her on the halo canned food as well. I bought the puppy ones and ended up getting cat food. The recent dry kibble I got was mostly crushed and I am not able to return it even though it is within a month of me purchasing it. This food is not cheap, I am so disappointed. I really thought this was the best I could get for my pup, unfortunately not. I am switching over to Purina pure plan.
