Several low cost glass marker boards have recently become available on Amazon. I bought the long six footer Loreli because of the price point and on the basis of a scant few reviews. Miraculously, it arrived intact. There is a sticker on the box saying that it must be carried vertically during shipping and FedEx freight actually followed the instructions. I used a micrometer to measure the glass thickness, which turned out to be 4.57mm, or 3/16 inch. I have used professional class glass marker boards in office buildings and they are thicker than the Loreli. However, these boards cost a lot more too.The six foot board has six mounting holes. I decided to mount the middle set of holes on a stud and use drywall anchors for the two size sets of holes. The mounting hardware is a metal offset plug that is screwed into the wall with #6 screws. Since the screw has to fit into the body of the plug, you cannot use a larger screw because of the size of the screw head. It does not have a drill template, which is the biggest problem with mounting. The location of the mounting plugs must be exact so the weight is evenly distributed among all the six holes. I got a roll of kraft paper from the dollar store and made my own template. The instructions were ridiculous. It says to measure the distance between the glass holes and drill mounting holes in the exact spots on the wall. It is best to have three people mount the six footer. Two people wearing gloves can hold the board and one person can screw in the metal caps to the mounting plugs. The plastic screw anchors that came with the hardware did not seem strong enough to handle anything larger than a picture frame. Because of the #6 screws, your choice of anchors is limited. I got some 50 pound rated plastic anchors from the hardware store. I laid the glass down on a table to make the template. Be very careful laying the glass horizontally and lifting it back up to a vertical position again. This motion creates the maximum stress on the glass and you can feel it flex. The glass is not safety glass, though it must be tempered in some way for it to survive shipping and mounting. When done, the glass sits roughly half an inch from the wall. A white plastic film is applied to the back of the glass to make it a whiteboard instead of a clear board. Aside from TV shows, a clear marker board is not that useful. Be careful to not scratch the white film while mounting the glass. When writing on the board, you can feel a little bit of glass flex. It doesn't seem to be a problem. However, because the glass sits away from the wall, this board is not meant to be used by kids. Just think what happens when kids monkey around and someone gets shoved into the glass. This product is only for adults. It is quite attractive when everything is done. The board comes with one black marker.Bought through Amazon Warehouse. Great board, but parts missing. Lorell responded immediately and helped with the missing parts. Buy with confidence.Kids coming and going from activities, assignments to complete, books to read, chores, etc. So hard to keep track of all of it. We needed a hub to track to it all. Decided against an online calendar app, as the little kids needed to see it as well as the teens. A Big "whiteboard" was decided on, and this was the choise.Looks awesome in the house! Easy to install once we read the instructions! Easy to write on and clean off with specific glass board markers and erasers. Nothing we can find that we do not like. Such a great way to get organized! Recommend!I was a little concerned about purchasing this, after some of the reviews I'd read. Having received it, I can address some of the things I read in other reviews:Number of anchors:The picture shows four anchors - one in each corner. Someone said they received one that had six. Mine had four and is exactly what is pictured.Flexibility/Rigidity:Someone mentioned it bows in the middle a lot which made them think it might crack/break. The one I received has no problems with that at all. It's solid and I expect to get long life from it.White Paper/Mask:I read a review with a concern about a paper backing, or whatever. I can't tell there's an adhesive backing on this. It is white, and they had to do that somehow, but if it's an adhesive "paper", it's so well done I can't tell.Overall, I think it looks great on my wall and I really like the qualityGlass white board / dry erase board. The clear glass has a white (vinyl?) sticker covering the back. The sticker is what makes it appear white.Regular dry erase markers look like watercolor paint - faint and see-through. The best markers are the ones marked for glass boards. I have Quartet Glass Board Markers. Those look like regular dry erase markers on a typical dry erase board. It is a little difficult to mount because the mounting post location must be precise. It you are off by an eighth of an inch, it won't work. The mounting posts are a tight fit into the glass board. We purchased four of these for the conference room. After leaving marker on it for a month, it still wiped clean. I did have to use Dry Erase cleaner to get it super clean. One concern with these boards is that there is no center back support, so the board will flex in the middle; enough that you think it will break. What I end up doing was cutting two lengthwise strips of cardboard from the packaging and slid it up behind the board. This gives it a much more solid writing surface.Definitely need more than one person to install. I had 2 other people helping and it was still a challenge. Granted, it is a 6 foot piece of glass that needs to be hung (level) on a wall. The product is of great quality and I would absolutely buy another if I had the space for it.I discovered these at a previous job, and I have been on love with them ever since. I will never mess around with the melamine boards, where they rarely last a year. I bought 48x36 inch board but the actual size is 46.5x46. I feel cheated as I thought it was going to be exact 48 inches in width.
