I have sent this link to many people all love the box, unfortunately it seems they have updated to a tray contraption so i will nolonger recommend. The beauty of the old design is i can ignore the front door and use a 40gallon uncented trash bag with the bag the litterbox was shipped in, use the shipping bag as an outer layer, this forces the cat to use the top and no more scooping for you, put in just enough litter it will all be expended every x days depending on your cats needs,This has kept a lot of litter inside the box. Works well.First of all, the price on this was tough for me to swallow. But, after trying so many litter boxes and all of them failing to keep urine from running down my walls, I decided what I needed was a one piece cube. Do you have cats that pee high or spray in the urine box? I had a couple that did this. The high backed litter boxes tended to be two pieces and the urine would always find a way into that little seam and leak out the back or straight onto the walls. Price to pay for not having urine on the walls, this.Do the cats love it? Honestly, I think it has taken the place of their favorite litter box. They don't use the top. Let me expand by saying: This isn't a must enter from front and exit from back. No, They can use this like a normal box, front entry and front exit. That is what my cats do. They are very confused by the top. I also bought this for my two senior cats and one can't make that jump to the top anyway. No, we use this as a regular box. Also, door on front...it comes not attached and you don't have to use that either. I had no intention of using that thing so I was thrilled that it didn't come attached. It is there if you want to install it.I love the lift lid for cleaning. Although, the catch on it feels like it might not hold up. As for cleaning and scooping, I agree with the others on this. The reason for the missing star on the review is the rounded back. Hard to scoop, yup. If you are using a litter genie or really any normal litter scoop, you're going to have some difficulty scooping the back. It is doable, it just takes more time. You can also buy a "round edge little scoop" that makes it easier. I also don't try to use a liner or trash bag in this box. I think doing so would make scooping more difficult. But, why or why is the back of this litter box rounded?Besides this, I recommend. This is the only litter box my cats haven't been able to squirt out of, so far. They've been using it for a week, so we'll see if they figure something out, but so far so good. The problem with "normal" covered litter boxes is that the lip of the hood curves to the outside of the box where it covers the box, so when my boys take aim at the seam, which for some reason they love to do, it goes through the seam and dribbles out onto whatever I've got covering the floor. This box has no seams at the side, so they can't do that. And the top is low enough so they can't seem to position themselves to aim at the carrying openings on the sides. They haven't even squirted out the front yet, but I don't know if it's because they can't stand up or because they're just giving me false hope. (They are cats, after all.)I was afraid they wouldn't use it because of how small it is - it's just big enough for them to turn around in, and not tall enough for them to get on their tiptoes with their tails raised to take aim. But it turns out that they don't mind it. The first day I put it out, all three of them used this one instead of the roomier hooded one next to it. (One cat is a lean, long-legged 15-pounder, one is a very plump but not big-boned 19-pounder, and one is a tiny, arthiritic 6-pound 19-year-old who can manage to get into and out of it but not hang her butt over the front opening.)The little litter scoop that comes with the box is not too sturdy - my cats seem to be cement mixers as their second job - so I do need a sturdier scoop still to loosen the clumps off the bottom of the box sometimes - but my bigger metal scoops are too long-handled to actually maneuver in such a small space. The little scoop that comes with the box is the perfect size to get everything out, once I've loosened it.The hinged top is very convenient, too. And the smaller footprint is very nice, especially since the cats don't mind it. There is less litter mess on the floor too, I'm not sure why.All in all, this is the best litter box I've ever come across. Highly recommended. I'm buying 2 more today.
